Self-Care Sunday

tounge scraper wiath burlap

This week I want to talk about Tongue Cleaning. This is a simple and fast means of removing bacteria coating from your tongue and waking up your taste buds. It is thought that this helps reduce cavities, and lessens bad breath. Tongue Cleaning has it roots in traditional Ayurveda.

Done regularly you will notice an enhanced taste ability. Tongue scrapers are made of metal or plastic and are u shaped with blunted edges. Mine is copper. I use mine daily after I brush my teeth. They are very inexpensive and can be found online or at health food stores.

To use your tongue scraper, stick out your tongue and scrape the metal across your tongue from back to front. It’s that easy.

In my quest to find safe, healthy and planet friendly products I look at many, many companies. I want to share one with you that I am positively giddy about. NYR Organics! I think this company and it’s products are so Awesome that I have joined them and am now an Independent Product Consultant.

Your skin is the largest organ in your body and fully 60 to 70 percent of what you put on is absorbed through your skin and into your bloodstream and liver. That is why is makes perfect sense to search for products that are not going to poison your system with chemicals.

NYR Organic has skin care, body & Bath, mineral cosmetics, hair care, organic essential oils and supplements. The product lines are great and I am thrilled with every one I try. I guarantee that once you try them you too will be thrilled with the products and the results you receive.

The company has been in business for 30 years in the UK and in its 4th here in the US. In the US the products are available through consultants only. It is the first of its kind to be certified organic by the Soil Association. This guarantees that there are no petro chemicals, synthetics, pesticides or other nasties.

You can order via me, my website www.us.nyrorganic.com/shop/GailMyers, or host a party in your home. I am also willing to do fundraisers and fairs. The benefits of a home show are many. Self-Care Sunday

dry brushing tools

While many people feel that self-care is and indulgent luxury or for women only, they couldn’t be farther from the truth. Self care is an important part of living a healthy life.

If you don’t take care of yourself you will run out of energy to care for others. Over the next few Sundays I will address different forms of self-care. Try one or try them all. Some cost nothing and some have a bit of a cost do what you are able.

The first form of self-care I want to describe is Dry Brushing

Dry Brushing is a simple form self-care that can be done daily. It takes very little time and can be done anytime of the day. I like to dry brush in the morning before my shower or if pressed for time in the evening before bed, preferably before an evening soak. The cost is just that of the brush. I prefer a natural bristle brush with a long handle.

To begin dry brushing you will want to start at your feet and sweep the brush toward your groin area. You are brushing towards your lymph nodes so that your lymph system can remove toxins that you may get moving. Using long strokes brush the front and back of your legs, move to your arms from finger tip to shoulder towards the lymph nodes in your arm pit. Next move on to your trunk, again brushing toward your lymph nodes.

The benefits of dry brushing are increased circulation, the breakup of fat cells under the skin, and removal of dead surface cells. Dry bushing can be meditative also.

So take a few minutes and get a healthy glow dry bushing.

Remembering

911 flag

My heart goes out to all those who suffered when our country was attacked on 9/11/2001. Truly our entire country suffered and mourned the losses.

I still remember where I was, what I was doing and who I was with. It seems that our innocence was wiped out that day. We will never forget.
